Ausschnitt aus der FAQ http://www.ftdichip.com/Products/FT232Rfaq.htm : ----------------------------------------------------------------- Are the FT232R and FT245R pin compatible with the BM series devices? No. This is due to external components (EEPROM, clock source and series resistors) being absorbed into the FT232R and FT245R devices. The FT232R and FT245R are available in 28-pin SSOP and 32-pin QFN packages while the BM series devices were available in 32-pin LQFP and 32-pin QFN packages. Are the FT232R and FT245R replacing previous generations of FTDI's ICs? Although the new FT232R and FT245R chips are recommended for new designs, there are currently no plans to stop producing the two previous generations of these devices FT232BM/FT23BL/FT245BM/FT245BL (second generation) and FT8U232AM/FT8U245AM (first generation). ----------------------------------------------------------------- Und noch ein Abschnitt von der hp http://www.ftdichip.com/Products/FT232R.htm : ----------------------------------------------------------------- The FT232R is the latest device to be added to FTDI’s range of USB UART interface Integrated Circuit Devices. The FT232R is a USB to serial UART interface with optional clock generator output, and the new FTDIChip-ID™ security dongle feature. In addition, asynchronous and synchronous bit bang interface modes are available. USB to serial designs using the FT232R have been further simplified by fully integrating the external EEPROM, clock circuit and USB resistors onto the device. The FT232R adds two new functions compared with its predecessors, effectively making it a "3-in-1" chip for some application areas. The internally generated clock (6MHz, 12MHz, 24MHz, and 48MHz) can be brought out of the device and used to drive a microcontroller or external logic. A unique number (the FTDIChip-ID™) is burnt into the device during manufacture and is readable over USB, thus forming the basis of a security dongle which can be used to protect customer application software from being copied. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Wegen dem integriertem EEPROM, Clock und USB Widerständen würde ich mich für die ft232R Version entscheiden.
